Such a cute family place to pick apples, enjoy cider and enjoy good screen free family fun! If you want to pick apples you have to go online and reserve a time and pay. Make sure you do that. You can enjoy everything else without a reservation. The cider slushy is amazing and the donuts, well when youre going back for your second dozen you know theyre amazing. Will definitely be back
I used to recommend this place to friends. I cant do that anymoretoo hard to get a reservation. Sold out weeks in advance in the fall, and apparently you have to know when spaces open up, because theres never an open slot on the weekend. If you want to pick apples, youre better off going somewhere else in North Carolina.
It's pretty busy on the weekends, and parking (and seating) are limited for how many people are there. We got a flight of hard ciders, but I wasn't really a fan of any of them except maybe the Blue Jersey one. My husband enjoyed them more though, and said he would have enjoyed a full glass of several of them, but the peach one was his favorite. We also got a fried apple hand-pie (pocket pie?) and it was good but would have been way better warm. The apple cider donuts (with the cinnamon sugar) were so good! They were fresh and warm and delicious! Even though their hard ciders were not my jam, their cold apple cider is SO GOOD and we got a gallon of it. (Fyi, apple cider freezes great, so stock up while you can. This stuff knocks the socks off any commercial apple cider you've bought before.) I really wish it wasn't so far away, or at least that we could buy the apple cider in stores in Charlotte.
Well this past weekend I had family day with my husband and son, my husband came across Windy Hill Orchard on IG. We both was excited to visit Windy Hill Orchard because it something different for us and we wanted to pick some fresh apples. The whole scenery was very nice and I loved that it was giving a family vibe and kid friendly. We enjoyed being able to see Apple Cider donuts being freshly made! I never had Apple Cider donuts and really didnt know what to except but I must say WINDY HILL OUT DID THEMSELVES WITH THE APPLE CIDER DOUNTS WITH CINNAMON!!! Job WELL DONE!!! We also decided to try the tray of different Apple Ciders and our favorite was the Gala Peach. This was our first time trying Apple Cider in a alcohol form and I was VERY IMPRESSED. We was disappointed that we couldnt pick apples because the tickets were sold out but we will definitely be back to pick apples. Thank you for the great customer service!!!
Made the 35 minute drive to come check this spot out. We were pretty disappointed to learn you couldn't just buy the cider and drink it there while enjoying the donuts. Their non-alcoholic cider is to-go only and they wouldn't offer you any cups to enjoy a glass of plain cider unless you bought a $10 souvenir glass after paying $20 for the cider and donuts. Very disappointing visit for this expecting mama who was just craving a donut and glass of cider while enjoying the nice weather. The cider was pretty good though, it hit the spot when we got home. I see the owner's response below, which is great, I would let your bartenders know that . I asked three different ways if there was a way to enjoy non-alcoholic cider there and she kept saying due to the alcohol license all she could do was sell me an empty glass ( which I guess was $10 for 2 since my husband was with me). I would have paid for a glass of regular cider if she said that was available, I specifically asked if I could do that. Like I said, it was very frustrating.
