Gotta say, Midwood Smokehouse was pretty tasty--coming from a girl raised on Memphis style BBQ. Everything was delicious. I had the pulled pork plate, an utterly huge portion for a reasonable price (choice of meat, two sides, and hush puppies). The fries were lightly spicy and cut very thin, fried to a perfect crisp. I enjoyed my one hush puppy. It had a slight kick and was nice and crunchy with a rich cornmeal flavor. The best part was definitely the Mac and cheese. The noodles were soft and cooked perfectly and the cheese struck the perfect balance between gooey parts and semi-solid parts. The BBQ itself almost paled in comparison to the sides, but it was quite good with a nice smoky flavor. I will say that I preferred the more southern style sweet sauce than the vinegar based sauce, and I wish the pork had been a little more moist without having to add sauce. The only disappointment at Midwood was the banana pudding, which I felt had too much whipped cream and not enough bananas, vanilla wafers, or, well, pudding. The decor is super cute--we now sometimes play trivia at home with the name "Praise the Lard"--and the service was good. Midwood is worth a visit for sure!
Delicious Delicious DELICIOUS! I had a bad day and decided I wanted a good meal. It stormed so badly I had to wait in my car for about 20 min before the rain let up enough to get inside. I was dining alone and was sat at a table between 2 sets of larger tables. No one greeted me, looked at me or even smiled. I waited until I was about to walk out.i said no, I'm going to see how long this will take. Diners on either side seemed to be getting good service and still no one approached me. After awhile a lady comes out and asked if I knew what I was drinking . I'd sat long enough to know what I was drinking and eating. I let her know my disappointment that no one had acknowledged me. Her face looked sad. Genuinely. She let me know she was in back working and didn't realize I was there. She quickly took my order. She was polite and and took great care of me. I appreciated her honesty and genuine sense of care. Her name is Holly. While waiting and dining I watched a super nice young man go from table to table speaking and talking to diners not even in his section. He talked to me as well and I told him his friendly behavior didn't go unnoticed and I thought he was wonderful how he interacted with diners. Your food is great but servers like Holly and Tyler W. should be recognized for the great jobs they do. I hope your company appreciates them as much as I do. I'm glad I didn't leave. They redeemed the beginning feelings I had for this restaurant and I will mark this as one of my favorites. Thank you Holly and Tyler W.
Amazing experience. The hostess who sat us was polite and prompt, our server (Robert) was always there at the right time, and everything from the brisket to the pickles was tasty and fresh. If I didn't live 2 hours away this would be a go to place regularly. Definitely will be back however
The food is good and the customer service is very decent. They all smiled and asked questions when passing the table. Nothing bad about the food, same as any other smokehouse but it did have a unique flavor which they all do. It's well worth the drive once you find it. I highly recommend this place for good food and good service
Everything we ordered was delicious. The menu doesn't seem very unique but everything had a slight twist and was bursting with flavor. We ordered cornbread as an appetizer and it came out a bit late, so it was taken off our ticket without us even complaining or saying anything about it. The waitress was extremely nice and seemed like she genuinely was concerned about us having a good experience. All around an awesome place to eat and I can't wait to go back.
