Portofino's Italian Restaurant Arboretum
Visiting from out of town and was in hopes to find a good, quaint Italian spot. That was not the case with this restaurant. This is nothing more than a pizza joint. Our server was good. Food was not good at all. Atmosphere is very casual and old. Steady flow of people picking up pizzas so maybe the pizzas are better than the meals.
We had a large order that was placed by a friend for a group. It was under my name to be picked up. My son and I arrived to pick it up and the hostess could not have been more rude or less helpful. She insisted that she could not give me our food unless I had our order number. My friend had called it in earlier and left it under our name. We were not given an order number. This hostess was SO incredibly RUDE and insisted again she would not give us our food. Thankfully, a gentleman (who I assume to be the owner) overheard and made sure we had our order. Ridiculous. We have been customers of Portofinos for MANY years, but I was so offended by tonights interaction. Not sure we will be back anytime soon. Or ever.
First of all, I am a repeat customer of many occasions. Today, I had the worst experience Ive ever had at Portofinos at the Arboretum. First, they got the order wrong after repeating it several times to the server. Second, when they bought the bread; they bought half a loaf when the normal standard practice is to bring a full loaf. Third, when we got the check they charged $4 more than what was posted on the menu for the our order. When I questioned the bill they informed me that they increase their prices but they hadnt gotten their new menus showing the increase. If they charge me $4 more it appears as though theyve increase their prices by 10%. (Ouch). It seem to me, to be a bait and switch on the menu prices. Bottom line, I probably will not go back to that Portofinos again. I recommend that you review your receipt (check) carefully.
Very good food for the price. The full house we got there in 15 minutes to get in The kids enjoy the pizza there more than any other place.
My family went here for dinner and discovered a living fly in the Parmesan bottle after we paid for the meal. The manager came and argued that the fly got into the bottle while we were having a meal. The hole was very tiny and no one opened the lid, so it was unreasonable to think so. The manager got the fly out of the bottle and went away with it, saying sorry on the way. My family used to be a big fan of this restaurant, but their response and attitude discourage me from visiting the restaurant again.
