Que Onda Tacos & Tequila Matthews

Amazing food!!! Id give it 6 stars if I could. Waitress was super sweet also. Their red sauce for the Enchiladas had a tomatoey flavor that was so good without the cumin/chili flavor to ruin it for me that many have. The chefs and owner are from Mexico and they respect the tradition of great food. This isnt Americanized but so very great. Cool atmosphere too. Its not close to my house but worth a travel too eat there.

The food was delicious. The margaritas were good as well, and all brands of tequila are half price on Saturdays..major plus! We were kind of disappointed that they don't serve frozen margaritas, but atleast the ones on the rocks were good. I will definitely have to add this place on my list of Mexican restaurants to revisit.

Okay service and terrible food. Their salsa tasted like runny tomato sauce. Thats the moment I shouldve known to leave. The dip trio was mediocre and the best part of it was the pico de gallo, which I will say actually tasted good. For my entree, I ordered three different tacos. The presentation was awfulit looked like they carelessly threw food at the plate. The carnitas were way too salty. I tried a bite of each taco and could not continue eating because they were all just very unappetizing. The icing on the cake was the Parmesan-shaker type cheese that topped my cold refried beans. This is a restaurant I will never go back to. Comparable places Id rather go would be Tijuana Flats or Chuys.

This is one of four locations right in mist of the town of Matthews across the road from Brace YMCA and Publix. Stopped in for a bite of lunch 12:45ish. Nice quaint atmosphere. Noticed from the signage outside they have daily specials to choose from. Today's (Wednesday) specials were $5 small Nachos and $5 Mojitos. We were greeted upon entering and seated quickly since there wasn't much of a crowd. I feel seating layout could be a bit better. Some would consider the smaller tables uncomfortable for two especially once you add food and drinks. The menu has plenty to choose from. Our waitress was soft spoken sweet and helpful. Complimentary warm chips and authentic salsa were served. Something so simple yet so tasty. Ordered Chicken Fajitas and Guajillo Chicken. The fajitas came with salad, refried beans, and Mexican rice. The star of the show was the guajillo chicken entree. Grilled chicken breast smothered in red cheese sauce topped with bacon crumbles. The sides of cheesy rice and fried plantains help showcase the dish. Everything was delicious. Washed all of this down with a couple of their Wednesday special $5 Mojitos.

Definitely a five out of five. Horchata is the best I have had at a restaurant. Order the $2 tacos on Tuesday with a side of queso. Taco size was very generous for $2. Will return.
