Roy's Kitchen & Patio

We stopped in for brunch last Sunday. Service was very attentive and the food plentiful and delicious. The brioche French Toast is served with a subtlety savory mango salsa that was unique and amazing. The Jerk Shrimp and grits hit all of the flavor notes beautifully. The lobster and egg sandwich was a delicious surprise. You can never go wrong with chicken and waffles- the jerk chicken wings gave a fun twist to this classic. Well be back! Good Luck to Roy and his crew.
We went to the revamped Roys and love it so much more than the old Mangos. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered the curry and empanadas. For the quality the taste the food gets a 5/5. The only reason I dropped a star is the horrible smell on the back patio. They have such a large and great back area but it needs a little bit of TLC. Its got one of the largest back patios of NoDa but the design of the area is severely lacking. With a little bit of extra work this place would be a new hot spot of NoDa. I know the smell is mainly due to the dumpster, which isnt really their fault, but I believe in them to find a creative and effective solution :). We will definitely be back but wont be sitting in the back again.
I went here yesterday, and Im going back here again today. Its been a while since Ive felt that way about a restaurant. I went in and headed to the patio, the bartender back there was very nice and gave me the absolute best service I have received in NODA in a while. Growing up in NODA, its still nice to see people keeping that same vibe. He recommended the Escovitch Fish. It was absolutely perfect. I didnt say a word the whole time but only to order another ginger beer. The Cabbage and Rice and Beans were cooked perfectly. I am on the way to pick up a huge to go order right now!
Jamaican born and raised here . First i must say, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ALONE IS INCREDIBLE, CHICK FIL A WHOOO. secondly the music is spot on !!!! very good vibes and beautifully decorated. now, the food !! curry goat was a little spicier than im used to but otherwise 11/10. I HAD to go back and try the oxtail of course. thats the real test, and yes you guessed it. Delicious, if youre looking to check somewhere out and youre deciding between here and somewhere else. the decision has been made
Great job on reopening this restaurant space in NoDa. The food and service was excellent. Lots of menu choices to include some vegan dishes. Caribbean Island flavors that measure up to any of my visits there. The fried snapper was so good that I almost ordered two! Plantain chips made fresh and a unique tomatillo like salsa that had great tang and a bit of island heat. A perfect amount. Highly recommend!
