South 21 Drive In

A classic staple of Charlotte - they have multiple locations but I would prefer the one on Independence Blvd for the most authentic experience. Retro style fast food in a drive in capacity. If you dont want to eat in your car, they do have limited outdoor seating as well. The Super Boy is their staple but they have a variety of other affordable menu options, all available for order from their 50s themed menu. The whole place has a feel of the 1950s style and design, which adds to the charm.

I've driven past this place a hundred times and finally decided to stop in, and that was the right choice. I got the classic Super Boy and loved it. As good as one of those huge gourmet burgers can be, you just can't beat an old school, no-frills cheeseburger and fries. Service was quick and friendly, food was delicious and very inexpensive. It's no wonder it's a staple of Charlotte. I'll definitely be going back.

An amazing place to eat even during covid-19. Fast friendly service and the food is always terrific!!

South 21 is such a fun, local, old fashion drive in! In Charlotte since 1955, they still make your hot sandwich fresh when ordered. The onion rings are delicious and the fries were good too. Loved the milkshakes! Good family fun drive-in. Some picnic tables are available.

American food and the scene at this place is super good. don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait. the staff was very friendly and attentive. prices are reasonable.
