We stayed in Papas Dream for 2 nights. The deck is really big and very comfortable. We were on the deck about 90% of our awake hours! This morning we are on the deck (under sheltered portion), drinking coffee and enjoying the rain. I am 66 and nearly 300lbs. Papas Dream is 100sq ft, so just know, it is small inside for a man my size. The design is great. I can comfortably stand up in the main space and the loft. The loft has a comfortable queen sized bed. I know. Most are not my size, but I was able to make it work- again the deck was my hangout. The staff was warm and inviting. The wine tasting was excellent. This one is a slam dunk for the price. We cant wait to stay in the larger Treehouse, Horsefeathers.
Pretty good local winery. Their wine tasting is quite affordable and the tour is fun. They have a limited variety of wines. Most are varieties of the Muscadine grape, very sweet. Nice scenic location. Used for weddings. They have some cabins (treehouses) for rent.
I have been here a few times, trying to support local but very disappointed with the lack of customer service. They do not greet you when you walk in; when on the phone won't even look at you, acknowledge you. I have no problem waiting my turn but when you are totally ignored that's just rude. I learned at my first job as a teenager that the in person customer comes first and to always make sure they are greeted and told you will be right with them. I recently thought I'd try again. Walked in and the gal up front was on the phone (another on the phone behind her) and when she finally got off she proceeded to wait on the person that came in after me; looked right over me; still NO acknowledgement whatsoever. They were obviously having an event that day and I'm sure that was keeping them busy and all but wow! to (again) be totally ignored, not acknowledged is just not good customer service at all. Heads up: if you're not a high paying customer that's booked an event you will probably not enjoy the lack of customer service for just dropping in to see what they have offer and possibly enjoy a drink. I may not have spent $100's but I would like to have supported them. Word of mouth speaks volumes. Just sayin'.
Great venue to relax, try some great wine and just unwind! Tonight we saw Tommy DeCarlo, lead singer for the band Boston...what a great show!!
Only get to visit twice a year when I visit my daughter and family in Matthews, but each time has been more than enjoyable. Courteous staff and good wine.
