The Gaudium Musicae concert series will feature the performance of Passio: The Passion of the Christ on Sunday, April 7th at 4 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road. A small reception will follow the concert to give fellow listeners an opportunity to meet the performers. Arvo Pärt's Passio, (full title: Passio Domini Nostri Jesu Christi secundum Joannem), will be performed by VOX, The Firebird Arts Sinfonia, and Neal Sharpe, baritone soloist. David Tang will be conducting. This is a powerful and mesmerizing rendering of the Christ Passion using Pärt's own compositional style he named "Tintinnabuli," which was influenced by the composer's mystical experiences with chant music. Single concert tickets are $33 for families, $15 for adults, and $11 for students. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at StAnnCharlotte.org/musicae or at the door. |
