League of Women Voters to Host Author/Activist Cedric Dean

11:30am —

The League of Women Voters Charlotte Mecklenburg is honored to welcome Charlotte author/activist Cedric Dean to February’s Lunch with the League. The monthly speakers’ series alternates afternoon “Lunch with the League” and evening “League Talk.” Cedric Lamonte Dean is perhaps best known for writing “How to Stop the Killing,” “How to Save Our Children From Crime Drugs and Violence” and “How to Stop Your Children From Going to Prison.” Dean is founder of Safeguard Atone Validate Educate (SAVE), which is a national prisoner-led movement dedicated to preventing lawlessness and building character in misguided youth. Recognized by the City of Charlotte Leaders in 2018 as “one of the city’s most influential people,” Cedric Dean is a testament to how one caring and determined citizen can change a community. The public is welcome to attend this free event on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at the League’s office in the Midwood International and Cultural Center, 1817 Central Ave., Room 210, Charlotte, 28205.
