In recognition of Black Energy Awareness Month (BEAM), high school students (grades 9 through 12) are invited to participate in a one-day academy that offers live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and engaging discussion with energy and utility professionals. The goal is to introduce high school students to traditional and non-traditional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers in the energy industry. There will be live demonstrations, hands on activities, prizes and giveaways. Dress code is casual. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. This event is sponsored by the NC Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy along with Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, Siemens, North Carolina Central University, and NAES Corporation.
