The Charlotte Checkers today announced their red/white training camp scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 28, will be open to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to enter Bojangles’ Coliseum beginning at 9 a.m. and take photos with the Calder Cup before, during and after the 10 a.m. scrimmage.
The scrimmage, which will consist of two 20-minute periods, caps off the first week of training camp for the defending American Hockey League champions. The Checkers, who will not play any exhibition games this season, open the 2019-20 campaign with a road trip through Hartford and Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, respectively, before returning to Charlotte for their home opener and banner-raising ceremony on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
