Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Course is very overpriced and pace of play was horrendous. The foursome in front of us was playing the blue tees and could not drive the ball past the red tee box. Waited all day. Rude group of members behind us were blaming us for slow play. Informed the marshall of the slow play, he never spoke to the group holding everyone up. Course is in very good condition with the exception of ball marks/divots on the greens. We had lots of time to fix them while waiting. I have and will continue to play charity tournaments at the course, but I will not play any weekend rounds there. It is too expensive and pace of play is too slow.
Very disappointed with this course; no player respects rate of play and divots throughout the course. Pro shop staff seem incompetent and unaware of rates they are posting online. I have played public municipal course that are better kept. A ranger never drove by to enforce others around and service in the club house during the turn was slow. I've always wanted to play this course and now that I have, it's been a huge let down. The other local courses are better and cheaper in my opinion. Wouldn't pay more that $25 a player at this course. Best person there was the starter. He was friendly and pleasant to speak with.
Beautiful course I know the members are proud of it. Great staff from starters to Marshalls. I am not a member but my #1 choice in the Charlotte area.
Nice layout and super nice people working there but the course in late April is in horrid condition. To be fare most courses in and around Charlotte have horrible tee boxes and fairways, its like hitting off concrete, no grass to speak of anywhere. The greens have some sort of weeds that have grown in so bad it makes putting impossible and I don't see that improving anytime soon.
Well done, by far the best around the area. Great staff and management. Well kept all the way around.
