Room 1812

We really enjoyed the experience we had at room 1812! The drinks were incredible, the bartenders were amazing with great knowledge of drinks, one even took the time to make me one of my favorite drinks in the world that isnt on the menu. If you are ever in the area and have a chance to go I highly recommend!

My wife and I walked into Manchester 1812 for reservations, knowing we are 40 minutes early to allow time to visit Room 1812. When we told the hostess the password we were shown the way to the secret door and shown down a flight of stairs to a dimly lit bar. Just that experience alone was priceless. The bar sits in the middle of the room and has plenty of seating. There are sofas that line the outer perimeter of the bar area and are designed for two, maybe three, people in each little section. A great, intimate setting. The walls are decorated with prohibition era pictures and there is a little mock jail cell where you can take your picture "behind bars". The bartender immediately greeted us when we walked to the bar, handing us a menu. The menu was a little hard to read, again very dimly lit, but we muscled through it and ordered drinks. Both of our drinks were impeccably made and probably the best we've had in a very long time. Service takes a little long to get drinks but when you watch the drinks being made - it makes sense. Our total bill was about $42 for two drinks - pricey but the experience offset the price a little.

What an awesome speakeasy! Found out about this via my server at the Manchester upstairs and was so excited to discover this true-speakeasy vibe gem! It is a password protected entrance whether you enter from the secret wall upstairs (guarded by a very nice bouncer) or the side-street entrance. The password changes daily, so you will have to provide the correct pw to get in. Once in, the ambiance is everything you would imagine a speakeasy of the era to be! The decor, lighting, bar, bartenders and even the music were just perfection! Their cocktail menu is inspired by various cocktails through history and I absolutely loved that they provide a little history lesson for each one! I had four and loved every single one of them, but my two favs were handsdown the smoked Old Fashioned and the Double Smoked Agave Old Fashioned (if you are a fan of mezcal, get this one!). The time and craftmanship were evident when each cocktail was being constructed and they have a glass smoke-box to smoke the cocktails. This was awesome! The quality is definitely reflected in the price, but unlike most places within the $12-16 price range, you at least get what you pay for here. Loved everything about this place and can't wait to go back!

Cocktails were great, great service and definitely a speakeasy atmosphere. The smoke from the smoked old fashioned adds a certain quality!!
