My favorite local park to go and walk, run, or set up shop for a few hours and read. Its always packed (but not in a bad way!) with people so it reminds you of how alive Charlotte becomes when the cold weather goes away. I love popping in for Festival in the Park (in the Fall) and setting up my hammock in the trees!
This is a great place to come and relax! You can walk around the park or go on the gravel trails. They have bikes you can rent. A lot of open grassy areas to lay out a blanket for a picnic or a nap! People bring their dogs so watch out for turds in the grass! You can reserve the covered picnic table areas for small parties/bbqs. They have grills to use on site but you have to provide the charcoal etc. Freedom park has become a beautiful and safe place to spend some time. Highly recommend the visit and it is close to a lot of restaurants and a few coffee shops!
Very cool in relaxing park in Charlotte. Great walking spot and interesting folks abound. Picnic shelters recently renovated so you can take a meal there. You can also take your Dog. There are food vendors of all different kinds of food. Love this park.
Easily walkable in an hour. The park is clean well manicured. I was there during Valentines Day and it was relatively empty during the sunset. I am comparing this to nyc Central Park so I am not sure if its fair.
Lovely grounds, plenty of space for activities. You can walk around the pond and find a ton of Pokstops if that's what you're into!
