Park Road Park
Great park. Pond with walking area. It has several jungle gyms, including a really great set for younger kids with a slide, climbing, swings and even a sandbox. Large play area for older kids with climbing, spinning, balance, swings and slide equipment. Right off of Park road.
Generic park. Nothing exciting to make it stand out. Freedom Park is 5 minutes away. It's bigger and had more amenities.
Our favorite playground in Charlotte, thanks to the focus on climbing equipment, soft play surface, and plenty of seating for parents. There are several distinct play areas so our kids can usually find somewhere to play by themselves until the shyness wears off. Medium availability of shade, plus a sprayer active during warmer months. The water fountain is also turned off for winter, so bring your own.
Smaller park. Decent playground, kayak pond, rentable shelters with cool built-in grilles. Mountain biking trail is fun to walk the dog on, just be respectful of bikers. Park Rangers on site. Sandyhook Memorial next to the playground is really nice. Seems fairly safe.
Not the best park in Charlotte, but not the worst. It's not maintained as you would hope it would be, but still has amenities which I personally enjoy: hiking trail that is NOT paved, pond (even though it doesn't look great- you can still put a line in, but don't expect to catch/keep anything). Has shelter houses for get-togethers, as well as volleyball/basketball courts and nice having green in the city!
