Uwharrie National Recreation Trail

This was a great experience as the trails are very clearly marked and the spaces near the lake are fantastic for any kind of outdoor adventure. There is a disc golf course in the center part of the land mass at the lake with an open field for pets and gatherings with family and friends. Overall, it is a beautiful park with enough space for a lot of people to go without feeling crowded or unpleasant. Everyone we saw while we were there was friendly and respectful.

Loved everything about this place.. the Uwharrie campground inside of the forest on Baldin Lake and so tranquil it is definitely going to be a repeat trip very soon. The forest has so much to see, several other attractions located inside it and driving is as enjoyable as the hiking on the well planned trails around the lake and throughout the forest, well marked trails and parking.

Gorgeous! Beautiful lake and fishing pier on the water. Nice facilities. Great dirt and gravel roads. Plenty of challenging OHV and horse trails too. Camping galore at budget campgrounds, or find your own dispersed camping spot for free! $5 OHV permit if your vehicle is leaving the roads. Pick one up at nearby gas stations/stores. Dickie Bell is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail. Plenty of hiking trails to check out as well.

Fairly easy trails, so don't expect to climb mountains. Trails are very well marked and easy to follow. Many nice primative campsites right off the trail and usually next to a water source. Great for a weekend backpacking trip.

Great hiking around the lake, lots of camping sites with great views. Blazes are well marked so you dont have to guess if youre going the right way. Be careful of roots and some narrow ledges. Lots of spider webs in the late summer and lots of wildlife out and about.
