Community and where friendships are made. I highly recommend Spandex for its relaxed atmosphere and welcoming environment. I mostly attend the weekend events they host, and they do a great job posting the schedule online so its easy to see whats coming up. What makes this place special to me, though, is the community. When I was living in Charlotte and working remotely, I was looking for a third place outside of home and work where I could meet people. Spandex ended up being exactly that. I met my entire male friend group heremore than a dozen guys who Im still close with to this day. Even after moving to Winston-Salem, I still come back regularly. Everyone is now spread throughout North Carolina, but Spandex remains our gathering spot. Some of those friendships have even turned into travel buddies, and Ive been lucky enough to see parts of the world with people I originally met in that store. Its rare for a business to have that kind of impact on someones life, but Spandex really created a space where community naturally forms. Im incredibly grateful it existed when I needed it.

We stopped here on a Sunday evening on a road trip and had an amazing time! We got ice cream (which tasted great), played pinball, and looked around at the comics. The guy working was really wonderful. He was welcoming, kind, and helpful! My only wish would be that this location held more Trade Paperbacks. Most of their stock are the individual comics with a select few / special TPs or Omnibus editions Overall, a great way to spend the afternoon!

Great place to bring the kids! They serve ice cream and floats. They have comic books and figurines and three pinball machines. Even if it's a brief stop, it's something different that you and your kids can enjoy. Prices are reasonable. Pinball machines take Quarters. The staff was happy to help us exchange some cash for Quarters.

Review Edited based on comment from store. Id like to share some feedback regarding the way prerelease sign-ups are currently being handled. As it stands, players are able to register for the prerelease event, not participate in the tournament itself, and still keep their prerelease bundle to pick up at a later time. While I understand the desire to accommodate different schedules and make sure players receive product, this system has some unintended consequences. When players register but choose not to attend the event, they occupy spots that could have gone to participants who genuinely want to play in the prerelease tournament. This creates frustration for players who miss out on the experience due to limited seating. A prerelease is meant to be a community-focused event where people come together to enjoy new cards in a fun and welcoming environment. Allowing product to be reserved without participating shifts the focus away from that communal experience and instead treats the prerelease primarily as early product access. A more balanced approach might be to separate tournament registration from product availability for example, offering prerelease kits for pick-up after the main events have concluded, or creating a dedicated product-only option that does not affect player seating. That way, those who want to play in the prerelease can secure a spot, and those who simply want the product can still purchase it without impacting event participation. I believe a change like this would help preserve the spirit of prerelease events, keep them accessible for players who want to enjoy the tournament experience, and still ensure everyone has access to product in a fair way. An additional note based on the comment , The website directly states , Pokmon tournaments must have a minimum of 4 players. Give each player 1 Build & Battle Box. Allow about 2030 minutes for deck building. Games are playeduse Tournament Operations Manager. Failure to adhere to any Prerelease operational criteria may result in your tournament being canceled and/or disciplinary action Upon event completion, we recommend distributing three booster packs to each player. After scanning through all of the rules and regulations involving these tournaments, there is nothing in any of the PDF or document that states anything about people being able to have access to product after the event is over. From the PDF it says that only then the product could be sold after release, so per the rules if theyre not at the event, they should not be able to purchase a building battle until the release day. I can find the exact verbiage if needed, other card shops in the area also do it this way. I will not be attending a pre-release tournament until this gross problem is fixed. They do not have to play or forced to. They just need to attend the event during the event hours .
