Dish it Out Pottery Painting Studio

My daughter went for a birthday party and it was so cute! Many options of pottery to paint for every price point. It was very busy that Saturday so Id return on a weekday. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cant wait to take my other kids there. She got her finished piece about 2 weeks out.

I had a birthday party at this location for my daughter turning six and her friends/classmates. I honestly have to say this was the worst birthday party experience that I have had for any of my children in their lifetime. When I had booked it, no one had mentioned that parents cannot stay. It was only until the week before when I inquired myself that I found out. Upon entering the set up was sad. No real signage or single acknowledgment of my child or her birthday party upon entering. For the price, you can have a little more effort. For the group of children, there was no assistance during the party either. There was no assisting with getting paints or helping the kids in any fashion. No one assisted with passing out cake , napkins or utensils. At the end I had to physically locate their trash can and clean up after ourselves. This was all stressful without help and no parents being able to stay. We werent even really acknowledged until the end of the party when it was time to collect their money. At the end, they had the audacity to inquire about a tip. I didnt comment other then no I do not. I dont mind tipping typically, but this was not earned. During the party, the person who appeared to be in a management position, heavyset woman possibly in her 30s-40s with inappropriately short jean shorts for a job, spent most of her time in the back laughing with two other younger staff members in a back room. I couldnt even believe there were 3 staff members and they predominantly stood around chatting when clearly they had time to be doing more with the party and assisting other patrons. I dont like leaving negative reviews, but I know that as a parent you want your childs birthday party to be special. I was able to pull it off without the kids or my daughter knowing their was an issue . I was able to help the children get paints, pour paints, and give instruction so they had a good experience for my daughters party. I went home that night upset and exhausted. It was an extremely stressful experience. Previously I have personally painted here and had a good experience, but I wont be returning. Going forward, I have located a place in Waxhaw that is an adorable setting. All the same ceramics that the dish it out pottery location has are much cheaper. The woman who is one of the owners has instruction she provides as just part of what you pay for (which is also cheaper) is extremely attentive, and does it with a smile. She even offers special touches you can add on as they finish your ceramic piece. The pick up is convenient as well because she has a set up that you can drive up day or night without the business being open and pick up your ceramics. It is also packaged in boxes with padding. When you pick up at dish it out pottery, they are haphazardly in a paper bag. She even offers birthday parties and at a better price. I wish this was the experience we had at the place we originally chose, but you live and learn.

YOUNGER KIDS NOT WELCOME. The woman running the place seems not to have much tolerance for children. She literally walked up and said to my 3 year old are you done? You have my expensive paint all over your hands! Then my daughter had her shoes off and she very rudely demanded she put her shoes back on bc stuff gets broken. Which is understandable but her attitude was horrendous. Never going back.
