‘Swan Lake’ Takes Center Stage in the Queen City

For the first time ever, Charlotte Ballet presents one of the world’s most cherished ballets, “Swan Lake,” making its debut appearance at Knight Theater, May 3-12.
“Swan Lake” tells the captivating story of love, magic and tragedy. Audiences will be transported into a world of romance and drama, following Prince Siegfried who encounters a flock of swans on a hunting trip and falls in love with the Swan Queen, Odette. After a curse by the evil sorcerer, Baron von Rothbart, Odette can only take human form at night, but true love can break the spell.
“Swan Lake” features the rich storytelling and music from renowned composer, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and choreography by Ib Andersen. This breathtaking choreography is complemented by vivid sets, ornate costumes and Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, performed live by the remarkable Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
Charlotte Ballet’s presentation of “Swan Lake” is sure to be an enchanting and mesmerizing on-stage experience.
Performances run from May 3-12 at Knight Theater. Senior adults can experience a sneak peek of the performance on Friday, May 3 during the dress rehearsal at 2 p.m. There will also be a sensory-friendly performance on Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m. with an abbreviated performance length, extended intermission and volume-controlled recorded music to provide a more comfortable and inviting environment to enjoy “Swan Lake.”
Tickets are on sale now and start at $30. Evening performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., while matinees take place at 2 p.m.
