Nice decor, but pulled pork was just OK. Sauces were really good, but prices were quite high for what you get. Baked beans were well received by all. Cornbread was old-school style rather than the more trendy sweet and fluffy stuff. Peach cobbler was really bad... seemed to be a recipe designed by someone who has never had a real peach cobbler. So not just badly done this one time, but systemically bad. The staff was exceptionally nice on our visit. Overall, it was just OK. For the money, I would go elsewhere for my barbecue... it isn't like excellent barbecue joints are in short supply in North Carolina.
This is our neighborhood restaurant and a great go to place for a quick bite to eat. Everything is great, even the greenbeans. The baked beans and corn pudding are the best. Want to try something different? Secret menu item, the Turkey Bell sandwich...it will not disappoint.
I dont know what happened to this place. I ordered a brisket sandwich. The first bite was good - and that was it! It was fatty, and the quality was TERRIBLE. If I had not been on the road heading out of town, I would have taken it back - it was just that bad!
We had such a good takeout experience with City BBQ on Galleria Blvd. tonight. We are in the midst of a move and have been forced to eat takeout much more than we normally would until our new kitchen is set up and all the boxes unpacked. Our food was packaged effectively (no spills), HOT, and yummy. We got Brisket sandwiches on Texas Toast, and the brisket was tender and moist. The baked beans were tasty, too. We liked the coleslaw - just the right amount of vinegar to mayo. Lastly, the hushpuppies were delightful...crispy on the outside and slightly sweet on the inside. We are happy to know there is such a delicious food option close to our new home!
Good food, good prices.
