Art exhibitions by local artists are on view at Bliss Gallery. You can also find permanent art all along Main Street in the form of vibrant murals, antique photos, clever woodwork signage, and historical statues and plaques.
Eat & Drink
Breakfast favorites The Everyday Market, with its croissant sandwiches and French-inspired pastries, and Honeycomb Cafe, offering full breakfast feasts, are both on Main Street. Just down the road from downtown, The Wandering Cup is a special coffee shop inside an art studio that carries local baked goods to go with its drink menu.
Enjoy casual fare of sandwiches and burgers while sitting on the patio of The String Bean. STATION delivers flavor in the form of tacos, noodles, curries and craft beer inside a refurbished train station. Nellie’s Southern Kitchen serves up Southern-inspired entrees, appetizers and cocktails inside and on the roof.
For fine dining with a view, Drift presents upscale steak and seafood entrees alongside floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto Lake Wylie. Enjoy a perfectly cooked steak at Old Stone Steakhouse, then head next door for a cocktail at The Jailhouse. The site of the former Belmont Police Station is now a sleek cigar and cocktail lounge.

Belmont has offerings for outdoor enthusiasts of every activity level. The city’s many greenways, trails and bike lanes open opportunities for walkers, runners and cyclists. Bike lanes and expanded road shoulders make biking around Belmont safe and easy.

Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park has a convenient boat launch for flat water kayaking on the Catawba River, along with an excellent children’s playground, picnic area and restroom facilities.
Daniel Stowe Conservancy hosts a relaxed strolling environment among the many gardens, fountains, walking trails and conservatory. Stowe Park is the central point for gatherings, with its covered pavilion and grassy amphitheater, spacious upper field and adventurous children’s playground. Paved pathways and ramps wrap around and through the park, making accessibility easier for guests.

Belmont’s Main Street offers shopping opportunities for both young and young-at-heart visitors. Cotton Candy Factory satisfies patrons with a sweet tooth, while South Main Cycles and Catawba River Outfitters offer outdoor clothing, gear and supplies to those on the move.
Jolie Boutique and belletique provide retail therapy for guests with an interest in women’s fashion and accessories. Just a quick drive from downtown, the Catawba River Antique Mall houses thousands of square feet full of antiques and collectibles to browse.
