McDowell Nature Center and Preserve

A truly beautiful place! Lakefront picnic areas, that you don't have to pay for.. There's piers to go fishing, trails to hike, and playground areas for the younger kids.. It's a great place to take your family, especially in Early Autumn when you get to see the leaves changing into a multitude of colors. You really can't go wrong planning a trip here.

We made a short notice reservation (5hrs) with friendly office personnel for a night. They were informative about the park and what to expect, verbally and in an email. Upon arrival the site was clearly labeled with easy to hook up our travel trailer to water and electric with a spacious clean site. The bath house was clean and spacious with hot water. When unhooking and leaving, the dump station was clearly labeled and easy to use. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful facility, clean with plenty of walking trails and activities. A little crowded on a Sunday for fishing, but there are a few spots away from the main waterfront that are a little quieter and would likely be great when the park itself has less activity.

Amazingly beautiful forested area with well-marked trails, waterfronts, and interactive activities for kids. My husband and I went hiking with our dog, and had a wonderful day.
