We really enjoyed our dinner at Mert's Heart & Soul. The food was very good we loved the cornbread, short ribs, cabbage and mac and cheese. The the service was quick and the atmosphere was interesting to look at. They did a great job with social distancing without impeding on the dinning experience.
I had the combo plate of Creole Shrimp and Catfish. There were only a few pieces of shrimp in my Creole Shrimp I won't order that again but the catfish and the sauce that they give you to put on the fish was straight fire. The cornbread was good and always is when I come here, the yams and the cabbage was great also. This trip was a good one everything was on point from the food to the service not always the case. I forget my servers name a female but she was great and took care of me so I tipped her good. I had to sit outside which was no problem because the inside seating was at max.
We had the greatest waitress. Our food was to our request and we were seated with out delay. Not that the portion sizes were huge, or that they were free apps offered to get full from, or anything, we brought back leftovers because we're so busy enjoying the inside veiws and outside scenery
Rave reviews for Mert's. I had the pleasure of under not so pleasurable circumstances to experience this cullinary delight. Catering for my boyfriend's nephew's memorial was done by this restaurant. The salmon cakes ( obviously made from fresh salmon) with roumalade, was mouth watering. The cornbread loaves, I imagine only compare to the loaves produced with the fish and five loaves miracle by our Lord. They were that good. All accompanied by cabbage, curry chicken, and Mac & cheese. The only thing more comforting than the food was the the spirit that it was delivered with. The name " Heart and Soul" is not just a logo. They live to serve...and the Moore family thanks you.
First time visit, we sat outside due to the weather. I really liked the pictures on the inside. I ordered the red beans & rice it was mediocre at best for me (lacked that signature flavor I'm accustomed to & I was not a fan of the yellow rice) . The soul roll was great I mean Tony the Tiger great & the cake was good also. Customer service was nonenthusiastic lacked any type personalality. I doubt I'd return if I was paying.
