This event is inspired by the special exhibition African-Print Fashion Now! and Gastonia artist John Biggers’ Kumasi Market, which depicts the women of Ghana, Africa selling their textiles and wares in the marketplace. Some of Charlotte’s selected cultural small businesses and independent artists and designers will display and sell their exhibition-inspired clothing, jewelry, shoes, hand bags, graffiti-wear, and home décor made with African-print fabric, leather, silver, plastic, and other materials. Fashions for men, women, and children will be showcased. Baked delicacies can also be purchased. Enjoy the culturally-energized setting that will include music, head wrap demonstrations, gallery tours, Mint Dot chats, and an illustrated talk on textiles and African women in the marketplace.
