Always a nice place to play. Tee boxes are in top shape compared to other courses. Very nice, challenging course! Glad they have reopened. Updated Review 8/22 While the course continues to be one of the nicer ones in the area, I dont believe that I will be back. The staff is just too rude and too incompetent. This does not apply to the guys in the pro shop, only the starters. There is a negative interaction before or during your round almost every time out there. We were asked who the hell are you guys? Had tee times delayed, and also dealt with one starter who flew down the hill to make sure we knew that we had to check in with him first. (He was nowhere to be seen for 15 minutes before). Next time remember, you wait for me. He could have been in the bathroom for all we know. Its not our responsibility to miss our tee time when there is no starter around. I know most of these guys are retired and do it for the free golf. Maybe its time to move on. With all the other great choices in the area -Waterford, Tega Cay, Springfield, etc I think I will be. Very disappointed. Delayed writing this review, but enough is enough. The starters have ruined it for me and I spread the word to everyone.

I play a lot of courses in the greater Charlotte area and this is one I frequent often. I'm not sure how anyone can give this place 1 or 2 stars because the greens are always in great shape, the fairways allow you to play the ball down, and the tees are nice. The course does get a fair amount of play, but I have always played in under 4 1/4 hours which is a steady pace. I guess some people are in a hurry to get off the course to sweep their garage or cut grass. As for me, a day on Fort Mill is always a joy and why rush it?
The staff definitely isnt nice. They think far too highly of the quality of their course. Some are flat out rude, others are smug and arrogant. They definitely dont make you feel welcome at their establishment. The course is just ok. The condition of the driving range is absolutely atrocious. Ive never been to a course with a more terrible range.
I just love this course and have grown to love it more than Springfield which was my usual track. The front 9 was designed by the world famous Donald Ross (too many amazing courses he designed to list here, but look him up) and the back 9 designed by George Cobb who designed the famous par-3 course at Augusta National...right here in our back yard and available to the public. The front and back are very different in layout & design, giving a feel like you're playing 2 completely different courses which I love
I was invited as the fourth in a round there last Sunday. I have played pretty much every course around charlotte area and mountains. I would say it was an average course after playing it but when the guy at pro shop asked are you a member? Is anyone in your group a member? My response was no. His response was 75.00 dollars! I was blown away. Ive played 75.00 courses and this is not one of them. Come on guys, its a 45.00 course on weekend at best.
