Chef Alyssa's Kitchen
I have been on the waiting list to attend a class and finally found one that works for our schedule! These classes sell out quickly, so you will likely need to sign up as soon as the menu is announced. I recommend the newsletter to keep up! Our class was tapas style, which is usually done as a private event but they told us they were experimenting with this style. My husband and I really enjoyed it because it allowed us to go to a station for one dish, enjoy it at our table, and then hop to the next. Each station was very different and I really liked spreading out each experience! All of the ingredients for each dish were pre-prepped or sorted into serving sizes containers. A PDF with the recipe for each dish was provided so that we can try to replicate our favorites at home. The flavors were so good! We tried some things for the first time ever! While this was a date night for us, there were some in attendance in alone, and some in friend groups. Chef Alyssa (a native Charlottean) and her assistant chefs were super helpful, personable, and clearly enjoy what they do for a living! The assistant chefs are all culinary school graduates, several from Johnson & Wales. Its so refreshing to see niche businesses like this flourish in our community. We definitely plan to go back.
Chef is GREAT! Well run class on sausage making, but she's got a class for whatever culinary path you want to explore. Super creative, easy to follow, great kitchen, awesome support staff, and where else do you learn from the best AND get fed afterwards? Great for couples, guys/gals night, foodies, first dates - pretty much anyone who's into food would dig this.
I planned the Chopped Style cooking class for a team building event for work, and this did not disappoint! Andrew was very organized and pleasant to help get everything set up. They were very accommodating to food allergies. We had a wine and open bar option, so drinks were available. The food and ingredients were high quality and fresh! I loved the design of the building and area also. I cannot wait to come back with my husband one evening!
Had a team building session and it was great. Chef Alyssa and staff was wonderful. Got to cook some good food using fresh ingredients and with some good teammates/collegues from work.
Lucked out in getting a spot in todays Fish workshop. Had registered back a few weeks ago but was sold out and on waiting list and this morning about 90 minutes before it was to start got the call a last minute cancellation opened a spot for me. What a great learning experience of Filleting a fish and preparing it three ways (grilling, roasting with vegetables and pan searing) as well as making Fish Fumet (broth). Such a good supported experience for the Chef and her wonderful staff. Got to eat and taste the delights we made. She demos but then we get to make as well and lots of helpers around. They do lots of other things there from making food, delivering it and doing special type events as well as the classes. You can't go wrong to take a class or get food from them.
