Full-Throttle Fun in Charlotte

Adrenaline-pumping motorsports adventures abound in Charlotte in October

As the green flag drops in Charlotte this month, rev up your engines and get ready for an action-packed lineup of full-throttle fun. From special driver appearances at the NASCAR Hall of Fame to tire-shredding battles at Charlotte Motor Speedway, now’s the time to race into Charlotte for high-octane happenings all month long.

In the Hall

NASCAR may have spotters on the track, but this month you’ll be spotting the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. To celebrate the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, championship-contending drivers will visit the High Octane Theater at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for Q&A sessions with fans on Tuesday afternoons through Nov. 5.

The Chase Driver Appearance events give you the opportunity to watch your favorite drivers on Saturday or Sunday and then meet them on Tuesday. Different NASCAR Sprint Cup Series superstars will participate in the Chase Driver Appearance events each week including Kyle Busch and Kasey Kahne on Oct. 1, Ryan Newman on Oct. 8, Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer on Oct. 22, and Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle on Oct. 29.

On the Street

NASCAR engines won’t be the only thing running this month. Lace up your running shoes and sprint over to the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Oct. 13 for the Fourth Annual Kasey Kahne Foundation “Five Kahne” 5K and Kids Dash presented by Great Clips. Run alongside Kasey Kahne and other industry celebrities as they hit the streets of Uptown Charlotte. If you’ve got the need for speed, you may just find yourself in Victory Lane this month. And don’t miss the Five Kahne Race Fest for runners, fans and families before and after the race on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza.

At the Track

Shift into high gear for adrenaline-pumping action at the track beginning with Bojangles’ Pole Night on Oct. 10, when NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will battle it out for the starting position at the Bank of America 500. And don’t miss the drivers’ wives and girlfriends take the frontstretch in Bandoleros for the 25-lap Better Half Dash. Also that night, Whelan Southern Modified Tour drivers will compete in the UNOH Southern Slam 150.

The high-speed fun continues on Oct. 11, when competitors in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will race under the lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Dollar General 300.  And on Oct. 12, the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will hit the track for the Bank of America 500, the only Saturday race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The month wraps up with fun for the gearheads and car enthusiasts at heart. Head to Charlotte Motor Speedway to explore more than 3,000 pre-1972 rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks at the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals Oct. 25-27.
