Nothing beats a night out at a restaurant that serves high-quality cuts of steak, from tender filet mignon to melt-in-your-mouth ribeye. Many steakhouses in Charlotte offer the quintessential, white-tablecloth experience. For your next special occasion, make a reservation at one of these top steakhouses.
Beef 'N Bottle Steakhouse
Neighborhood: Lower South End
A longstanding Charlotte favorite, Beef ‘N Bottle boasts an old-fashioned atmosphere complete with vintage photos on the walls. Since 1958, this low-lit steakhouse has served house-aged cuts of beef topped with your choice of blue cheese crumbles or brown mushroom gravy. Ask your server about the daily special, which is often a surf-and-turf selection.
The Capital Grille
Neighborhood: Uptown
The Capital Grille’s Charlotte location is a popular choice among Uptown diners. Enjoy dry-aged steaks, paired with one of 325 new- and old-world wines, in a refined setting. The chef-recommended porcini-rubbed bone-in ribeye adds an umami flavor, with a slight sweetness from the balsamic reduction, to Capital Grille’s signature cut.
The Cellar at Duckworth’s
Neighborhood: Uptown
While The Cellar at Duckworth’s is not your typical steakhouse, the cuts of Certified Angus Beef make it a popular destination for steak night. This speakeasy-style gastro pub cooks its steaks in an 1,800°F oven to create a charred crust. Order a classic, delicate filet mignon or try an equally tender bison filet.
Estampa Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse
Neighborhood: Uptown
Indulge in continuous cuts of steak during a churrasco experience at Estampa Gaucha. Start at the gourmet salad bar but leave room for the roaming skewers of beef circulating the dining room. This Brazilian-style steakhouse features familiar options like filet mignon and New York strip, as well as popular Brazilian cuts like picanha and fraldinha.
Dean’s Italian Steakhouse
Neighborhood: Uptown
Dean’s is a traditional steakhouse with an Italian twist. Prime cuts of beef, including Japanese A5 wagyu, comprise the menu alongside house-made pasta. For a mix of both, try the wagyu Bolognese or red-wine braised short rib gnocchi. Order your steak “Dean’s style” with a butter-poached lobster claw and black truffle bearnaise on top.
Dressler's
Neighborhood: Midtown
While Dressler’s does feature the classic, white-tablecloth aesthetic, the restaurant sets itself apart from traditional steakhouses with its bright, welcoming dining room. Take your pick from three cuts: filet mignon, New York strip or Delmonico ribeye. Dress your steak with your choice of mushroom demi-glace, garlic herb butter, house steak sauce or a crab cake.
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse
Neighborhood: SouthPark
Come dressed to impress at Del Frisco’s, an upscale, two-story steakhouse. Robustly marbled USDA Prime steaks are the stars of the menu, including a 32-ounce tomahawk, along with Japanese A5 wagyu and 45-day dry-aged cuts. Elevate your steak with the addition of garlic butter, truffle butter or gorgonzola fondue.
Epic Chophouse
Area: Mooresville, Fort Mill, S.C.
Venture just outside of Charlotte to one of two area Epic Chophouse locations, where the steaks are made from corn-fed cattle and hand selected to ensure the highest-quality marbling. The Epic 48-Ounce Long-Bone Tomahawk Ribeye is aged for a minimum of 35 days, resulting in a shareable, melt-in-your-mouth tender steak.
Leluia Hall
Neighborhood: Dilworth
A historic 1915 church is now a beautifully designed surf and turf restaurant from restaurant duo Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown. Leluia Hall serves prime cuts of steak, complemented by unique takes on signature steakhouse sides. The cuts of beef are prepared with a salt-sugar cure that draws out the meat’s natural richness.
New York Butcher Shoppe
Neighborhood: Dilworth, Belmont, Cornelius, Indian Land, S.C., Fort Mill, S.C.
In addition to offering ready-to-eat/prepared meals, you can also enjoy New York Butcher Shoppe’s USDA Prime and Top Choice steaks in house. Choose a steak from the butcher’s counter and the chef will prepare it for you with one side. The dine-in menu also includes a steak flight with cuts served three ways.
Oak Steakhouse
Neighborhood: SouthPark
The signature steaks at Oak include all the classic cuts — filet mignon, New York strip, ribeye, porterhouse and Japanese A5 wagyu. Complement your steak with one of several sauces to choose from, including the house-made Oak Steak Sauce, horseradish cream and rosemary butter, that pair well with any cut.
The Porter’s House
Neighborhood: South Charlotte
The Porter’s House is another concept from local restaurateur Jon Dressler. Steaks are served a la carte with your choice of an addition like a crab cake, lemon garlic shrimp or bone marrow truffle butter. Order the 36-ounce Porter House to share and save the date for the prime rib special on Sunday.
Steak 48
Neighborhood: SouthPark
Charlotte’s Steak 48 location lives up to the restaurant’s high standards of impeccable service and high-quality steaks.
