The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery
Lower South End
Founded in 2009, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery ignited the ultra-premium beer scene in Charlotte and has been at the forefront of the local market ever since. OMB adheres to the oldest purity guidelines in the world, the German “Reinheitsgebot.” This law states there can be only four ingredients in beer: water, barley or wheat malt, hops, and yeast. It’s “beer flavored beer” and it’s always fresh as OMB only distributes within a 60-mile radius. OMB is one of only nine craft breweries included on the Inc. 5000 list, and the only in North Carolina.
Took my out-of-town family here for lunch! It was sooo good! Really enjoyed the environment - it was during the Germany World Cup game. It was a packed house. The beers are great! My dad and husband loved the Copper. I liked the stout. The beer cheese and pretzels were the best. I shouldve had that for lunch instead. My sausage was just okay... The waitress was horrible though. She kept forgetting all of our orders. We probably wouldve ordered more beer if she had been better.
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is the perfect place to hang out and grab some brews. Theres more than enough seating inside and outside- though outside is the place to be. The seating style is Biergarten- long tables for multiples parties to enjoy and socialize. The place is also dog friendly and has corn hole. This Brewery has something for everyone!
Some of the best food we've had in Charlotte. I've lived all over the US and frankly, Charlotte generally doesn't have good food. The schnitzel and pretzels with beer cheese were delicious. I'm giving it 4 stars because the service could've been better. We had to go get our own silverware. It took a while to be served and our waiter forgot my husband's drink order and then when he ordered another, he forgot to get it to him for quite a while.
Very nice brewery and a great place for a group. Sat outside on their patio during summer and enjoyed a few beers with friends. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was clean. Would visit again.
Beers are good (esp. seasonal Mecktoberfest), but don't expect crazy flavors or funky styles. Food is usually good, but can be hit or miss if you're looking for dinner. Large location and is typically busy on weekends.
