Baby, this soul food is on point! The curry chicken paired with stuffing collards and mac&cheese with a cornbread muffin, is savory and delicious. My friend had baked chicken, cabbage yams and cornbread. We topped off dinner with a shared slice of strawberry cake. So good I wanted more but my stomach said no more. The service was also very good. Very polite staff. I will be back!
This place is delicious especially when its FRESH!! Thats a big factor on depending if your meal with be a hit or miss here but overall I enjoy this place. I didnt give 5 stars because of some small reasons. The greens are very very sweet Im not big on sweet sugary food but it was to sweet for me to even eat. The cornbread is good even though its super heavy, sweet and taste like cake. Chicken and yams is always good and flavorful !!! The deserts are over priced for what you get so I dont recommend them. Overall this place is still decent so I recommend you trying it for yourself!
Incredible. There's not much more to it. We're just visiting Charlotte for a short while and weren't sure what to eat for dinner when we stumbled across this place. My family is from New Orleans and we looooove us some soul food. This place was straight fire. We got the jerk chicken wings, bbq ribs, fried catfish, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, black eyes peas, cornbread, and peach cobbler (a large combo with 2 meats and 2 sides + a small combo with 1 meat and 2 sides (both combos came with cornbread)). Everything was absolutely divine. The flavor was incredible, the portion sizes were hearty, and the service was quick, professional, and friendly. We paid about $44 for everything and were not disappointed at all. We will definitely be coming back, this place is phenomenal. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.
1st timer!! My family and I arrived a little after they opened and everything on their food line was steaming hot and looked delicious. It was so hard to decide on what to order but the gentleman was patient with us and allowed us to take our time . The food was yummy and taste like home cooking . The customer service is friendly and helpful and I will be back .
The Mac and cheese tasted like box Mac or noodles, velveeta cheese, and seasons. The cabbage was metallic (almost like an old metal pot) tasting, mushy, brown. The chicken was not seasoned well throughout. The sweet potatoes tasted like canned sweet potatoes. The cornbread was mushy and wet! They did not have a kids menu. So expect to pay the same price for kids and adults. The prices were $22.99 (large), $14.99 (small), or $11.99 (small veggie plate only) All of the employees were friendly except Latonya. She was fixing the sides with such animosity. Didnt even speak - just looked at us and waited for us to pick. I will say the catfish was really good and fresh though. I gave 2 stars for catfish and the staff that was friendly. Overall, not good! I threw my whole plate out! We will not return.
