Blacks have a different set of rules to follow at Cloud Bar: My friends and I visited Cloud Bar on Saturday evening, all black and fairly large group (8-12). After being seated long enough to receive drinks and order food our waitress came out with who I am assuming was a manger & asked for 1 card to hold for collateral. While someone did pass over their card we thought this was strange for a restaurant to ask us for well after we had been seated. We asked another large party of white people if they had been given the same request. They were confused, shocked, and said no. After confronting the staff to see if this was company policy we were immediately given the card we provided them back. The waitress came out alone and apologized but no further contact from the manager who gave the request. We also then were given a new waitress? This is not my first time here with a group larger than 6. How does it look to only ask the table of black men and women for a card to hold as a collateral & above all how is that supposed to make a group of guests feel? Its a rooftop bar where the only exit is to walk past all staff at the bar. Were we going to dine and dash by flying away 18 floors up?

First off other reviews voiced concerns with the service which made me wary but I went two weeks ago and the service was fine. We came early to avoid rush time. For a bar on the 18th floor of a nice hotel you have certain expectations. For one, higher prices than a normal bar. That's fine it's expected. One would also expect decent food, drinks and plating. I would say Cloud Bar falls short on this. Was not expecting plastic forks and plates at this price range and my friends plastic plate came a little dirty and she had to wipe it off. The food came out cold which can be expected during the current staffing issue going around but it wasn't too busy when we came. I don't mind cold pizza but overall the food we got was highly priced but not that great just ok. The cocktails were average as well which is sad when you compare that fact to their prices. After one I just got a Heineken and enjoyed that more. They boast a 360 degree view but you only the cityline view is worth looking at and there's many seating towards that side. Also most seats were right next to very loud speakers. I can say I did have fun here but that's more indicative of the people I went with rather than the bar. It was definitely nice to see the view and take pictures once but I'd recommend Aura for a good rooftop experience even if it's not as high up.

Roof top is mediocre at best. The alcohol drinks are watered-down and way over priced. Our party swore we didnt get alcohol in our dranks. We were charged a gratuity and then a service charge on top of taxes. The staff is less than friendly and slow. My recommendation would be to go somewhere else.

This place has such a wonderful view and totally worth attending for that reason alone. As for the ambiance, and how they have decided to staff it, they have completely dropped the ball in this regard. This place has such huge potential to be something great, but, hopefully they catch on to that sooner than later. The music and dj couldnt have been any worse. Typical college frat boy incredibly tacky and cliche club music. Its almost as if they spent time really making this place decent but got lazy when it comes to actually build some sort of unique or carefully crafted and curated environment. Id love to offer this place a ton of ideas and suggestions. Anyway, go for the view, cringe on the inside about the rest. Like any google review, always read the poor ratings first and dont fall into the trap of 5 star ratings on first glance. If the experience has inspired a very detailed and articulate review, matched with a low rating, thats usually a bad sign. My suggestion, start your night here, snap a few pictures, then go find something better to do =) As a marketing director I can tell your first hand, there will be many overhyped totally fluffed reviews that are not in alignment with the reality of a place. As a former nightclub manager for over a decade, I would have given this place no stars, but seeing as the view is that good, I gave it 2. Staff recommendations: Keep your tall bartender who was absolutely amazing and working hard! Ditch the rest. Pros: The view of course! And definitely the bartender I interacted with briefly. Cons: Literally everything else including and especially the subpar cocktail menu and liquor choices. The rest of the staff who were very inattentive and just generally looked sloppy and aloof. Fire your manager and staff, start over. But please keep the bartender. Aesthetically speaking, it looks like they rushed to throw up something and had no motivation for being exceptional. I would rate the indoor bar as subpar for sure. Huge oversight.

Honestly speaking, Id really only go here for the view of CLT. Other reviews say the service was bad, but it was alright when I went. The mocktail was okay that they made, but Ive definitely had better. They gave us plastic utensils and plates which was kind of cheap looking imo The music speakers were kind of loud so it was hard to hear the people I was with, but the songs themselves were pretty good! It was p empty for a Saturday night so there wasnt much of a wait. Food was okay but again, Ive had better. Some of it was cold when it arrived overall, I'd rather go to a different rooftop bar lol
