Chimney Rock State Park

It is a bit on the pricey side to get into the park but the views are really good. The road going up is pretty narrow so beware when you drive in and out of the park. Be extra careful if you have a large vehicle. There is an elevator to go almost all the way up to the main Chimney Rock portion. We did the hike up and rode the elevator down. The views from Pulpit Rock, Chimney Rock, the Opera Box, and Hickory Nut Falls were all beautiful. Overall its a great park to visit and do some moderate hiking. None of the trails that we were on were super strenuous but there are a lot of stairs in several places.

Me and husband decided that we were not going to take the elevator and just hike all the way up. It was a fun experience but next time we will take the elevator so we can see the rest of the park. Once you make it to where the flag pole is your not going to want to hike up the rest of the way if you didn't take the elevator. There is also a bat cave but did hear or see any bats. There is also two views of a water fall but we only did the bottom view. We look forward to going back one day.

Cost is not bad for the adventure and views you get to see. They do offer a military discount (just show ID at entrance). Lots of stairs, HIGHLY suggest taking water for everyone to drink on the way up and down. They do offer an elevator as well, however today it was down. Theres even a bar cave and waterfall. Take your time going up and enjoy the view for a bit once you reach the top. I suggest going early as its less crowded. They open at 8:30am, we arrived around 9:30am and it wasnt bad. It is HARD but there are plenty of resting spots when walking up. We spent about 2 hours there and as we left the parking lot was pretty full and there were tons of people. Dont forget to check out the souvenir shop (one at the bottom and one at the top). Bottom store had more to look at I feel like. A MIST VISIT IF YOUR IN THE AREA!

Be prepared for steps! And more trudging at the top if you want to explore until the top of the falls! Definitely a great visit at least once. The falls were semi disappointing because they're fenced in from far away, but the views everywhere else were stunning. I would definitely return for the lookout views. Bathrooms were convenient. I didn't take the elevator, but I'm sure it's helpful for those who find stairs to be fatiguing. I was definitely tired getting to the top, let alone coming back down all the steps! Bring lots of water and snacks! >be sure to hold your trash- trash cans are available, but please don't litter this beautiful trail. Dog friendly! Staff members that I encountered were nice and helpful. Fortunately everyone seemed to pick up after their pets :)

The best time to visit this place is during fall. Here we can witness fall colours from the edge of the chimney rock mountain. The price of the ticket for an adult to enter this park is $17. There are even different trails for different groups such as great woodland adventure, hickory nut falls trail, skyline and four seasons trails. A route map for trails is Available at the ticket counter. The best thing over here is, if one arrive after 4 pm DST, we can visit next day at no additional charge.
