Spanky's Homemade Ice Cream

The sandwhiches are just okay. Nothing you can't easily make at home. The ice cream is pretty good from what I hear. Not a fan of the attitude at the front desk towards service animals (very accusitory even when a license is shown. It made my friend with one very uncomfortable and we haven't been back since). Could work on customer service.

Went there to get ice cream and my wife decided on sandwich. Guy acted like it was a big deal to make a sandwich so I told him never mind and took our ice cream and left. Wont be back ever thanks for the first and only visit!

Enjoyed a delicious hot fudge sundae *with an entire cookie in it* at the end of a hot day - this was perfect for splitting between two people and enjoying either in the cute shop or at the park Great customer service as well, I would definitely recommend stopping in!

Delicious home-made ice cream in a dedicated ice-cream store, with changing artisanal flavors. When I visited at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon there were smartly-dressed families queueing up, and I understand why after getting blackstrap (molasses) ice cream. I have never had anything like it. Needs no adornment, even a waffle cone is overshadowed by the intense flavor. If its on the menu when you go, *do try it!*.

This establishment is not friendly to people who have service animals. I called and ordered my food ahead of time and when I went in to pick it up the old women interrogated me a soon as I opened door. It was a Sunday afternoon so the shop was full of people! she told me I was not allowed to bring my dog in. Although my dog clearly had all the proper signage and full access liscence. (She did extensive training with Dog Training Elite of Charlotte) I told her well she is a highly trained service dog to help with my disabilities. She proceeded to ask me loudly and cause a seen in front of the whole shop what kind of disabilities and what does she do for you? Although it was extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable and everyone was staring at me with their mouths open because they were shocked how she was handling the situation I answered her questions and tried to explain why I have a service dog. She should could have at least pulled me aside or discreetly addressed any questions she might have had. I had a few people who knew me but didnt see them while everything had happened call and text me and tell me how sorry they were that she treated me like that! I know she is the owner but thats no excuse she needs to learn how to talk to and treat people!
