Spray Jam – Live Painting

When: April 8-10 and April 15-17
Where: Victoria Yards

Witness art in the making as 12 local artists come together to bring the blank spaces of Victoria Yards to life. Enjoy live paintings and talks with creatives while supporting local artists over the course of two weekends. Artists include Sydney Duarte, Joey Obso, Treazy Treaz, Abel Jackson, DSTNMTS, Miss Lotus and more. For a full list of artists participating, click here.

Queens Greens

When: April 1-16
Where: Wells Fargo Plaza

This isn’t your average mini golf course. Play a round of 9-hole putt-putt at the Queen Greens, designed by local Charlotte artists from Upcycled Arts. Each hole showcases creatively crafted obstacles and features built to celebrate the city of Charlotte and its cultural landmarks and local organizations. A round of putt-putt costs $3 per person. All proceeds benefit a local charity.

Craig Walsh’s Monuments

When: April 1-17
Where: Settler’s Cemetery

While you might not expect a historic cemetery to be the place to find modern technology and thought-provoking art, that’s exactly what on-lookers will see at Settler’s Cemetery in Uptown Charlotte. Experience a new interpretation of the memorial statue with a special nighttime exhibition from Craig Walsh. Projections of human faces transform trees into art while challenging selective history and accepted forms of public art.

Easter Eggs on Parade

When: April 1-17
Where: Romare Bearden Park

The beloved bunnies may be sitting this SHOUT! out, but they have left guests a very special treat in Romare Bearden Park – 12 oversized eggs decorated by 12 Charlotte artists. Be on the lookout for eggs adorned with monarch butterflies, bouquets of flowers from around the world, the Star of David, a Moon Tigress, nods to Charlotte’s West End and more. Impulse

When: April 1-17
Where: Levine Avenue of the Arts

Bring a friend or meet someone new, but to fully enjoy this interactive art, it will take two. Hop aboard one of 15 seesaws with light and sound that change when in motion, creating an ever-changing composition.

Colorfully Custom: Sneaker Painting

When: April 16
Where: Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture

Kick your kicks up a level with award-winning artist Frankie Zombie. During a special hands-on workshop, Zombie will demonstrate how to use acrylic and leather paint to add customized designs to old and new footwear. An assortment of colors and paintbrushes will be provided. Get tickets here.

Temple of Change

When: April 1 – 17

Where: Bank of America Plaza

Celebrate and honor the changes and moments that have brought you to where you are today inside the Temple of Change. A non-denominational space, the Temple of Change was designed to provide a place for contemplation, reflection and remembrance. Visitors are encouraged to acknowledge the change in their lives by bringing photos, mementos or written thoughts to leave inside the space. Reflect on the gifts that life – and change – bring and share your story with others.

Uptown Interactive

When: April 1-17
Where: Uptown, Virtual

Interact with six Uptown murals and learn the stories hidden behind the artwork with this virtual experience. Scan the QR code close to the artwork with your phone camera to generate site-specific face filters, watch a video of the artist and explore a 3-D model of the piece.

Nat Geo: Improbable Ascent

When: April 5
Where: Knight Theater

Get inspired by 2019 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Maureen Beck. Born with one hand, Beck’s love of rock climbing was instantaneous, but there was no instruction manual for how to climb with her disability. Hear how she’s taking adaptive climbing to new heights and inspiring others with her trademark humor, grit and determination. Get tickets here.

A Conversation on Changing Landscapes and Public Memories

When: April 6
Where: SHOUT! Lounge and Art Gallery

UNC Charlotte's Center for the Study of the New South presents a citywide roundtable to discuss the stories of Charlotte and how those stories are or should be preserved for future generations. Featured organizations, businesses and panelists include: Johnson C. Smith University, Pamela Grundy, (historian, author), Frederick Murphy (founder, History Before Us), Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) and Charlotte Museum of History.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

The Banff Mountain Film Festival captivates audiences around the world with a selection of award-winning films and crowd favorites from the hundreds of films entered into the annual festival held in Banff, Alberta each year. Beethoven Meets 90s Vibe

When: April 1
Where: Knight Theater

Experience Atlanta’s Orchestra Noir and the Charlotte Symphony’s musical mashup of 90s favorites and classical selections. The evening features music from R&B and hip-hop legends like TLC, Usher, Brandy and Biggie Smalls alongside some of Beethoven’s masterpieces including Fidelio, Egmont and Symphony No. 5. Queen City Jam Clash

When: April 9
Where: Gateway Village

What’s your jam? 80s? 90s? 00s? 10s? Help settle the debate about which decade produced the best Black music. The concert competition will give four bands 25-minutes to convince the crowd and a panel of judges their decade reigns supreme. The event will also feature live art exhibitions, food vendors, art vendors, small business vendors and empowerment resources.

Nicole Henry

When: April 15 - 16
Where: Middle C Jazz

International award-winning vocalist Nicole Henry’s soulful sound have earned her a Soul Train Award for “Best Traditional Jazz Performance” and four Top-10 U.S. Billboard and HMV Japan jazz albums. Since her debut album, “The Nearness of You,” Henry has established herself among the jazz world’s top performers, evoking a powerful emotional response for audiences across the world. Charlotte StrEATS Festival

When: April 15 – 16
Where: Gateway Village

Sample your way through Charlotte’s culinary staples, celebrating the chefs and cuisines that put Charlotte’s food scene on the map. Start the celebration with family-friendly cooking demonstrations from local culinary students, then treat your taste buds to dessert, food trucks and more. Be there for Charlotte’s first Neighborhood Cook-off, where chefs representing different neighborhoods will be tasked with preparing a dish that best showcases their neighborhood. Saturday’s ticketed event will feature appearances by celebrity chefs, chef demos and a restaurant tasting menu. Get tickets here.

Dine SHOUT!

In celebration of SHOUT!, select Charlotte restaurants will be offering a limited-time Tasting Menu to attendees. Each participating restaurant will serve up a three-course menu for $40 or less through the duration of SHOUT!

SHOUT! Streateries

When: April 1 – 17
Where: Parking lanes along the west side of Tryon Street, from 4th Street to 5th Street

SHOUT! Streateries infuse the relaxed, communal feel of sidewalk cafes with the architectural flare of five local design teams, creating an inviting place for people to eat, drink and be merry. Each streatery will have its own unique them and be served by nearby Charlotte eateries.
