A great spot for a special occasion. If you like sushi, saki, and a speak easy vibe, then this will be right up your alley! The space is intimate and easy to hear conversation. The wait staff was helpful and were able to explain aspects of the dinner or drinks if needed. The fish selection was interesting and paired with unique flavors. The visual of the food was also very pleasant.

Incredible experience. One of a kind. Well worth every single penny. I took my guy here to celebrate many things to include Fathers Day. The dinner and sake pairings were exquisite and the chefs were masterful. My boyfriend and I were blown away and will be talking about this experience for years to come. If you want an authentic Japanese omakase style dinner right in the heart of Charlotte, find a reason to spend the money, and get there!

Of course! Heres a draft for you: I recently visited Kappo En, a Japanese Omakase restaurant, with my sister who had been before, and it was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and they provided accommodations for my kosher diet. Everything was a 10 out of 10, and I truly loved the overall experience.

I'm so glad that Charlotte continues to grow and have great places like this spring up. Kappo is omakase style but not exclusively sushi; the chefs take turns with both nigiri and a variety of cooked morsels. On the sushi side of things, of 10 pieces of nigiri there were staple favorites like zuke-akami, toro, and uni, but also a variety of other seasonal fish, almost all of which are sourced from Japan. I've had sushi through the US and in Japan and this is was all very nicely prepared. Can't ignore Tsuyoshi's side of things either, with great cooked dishes, and the charcoal-grilled A5 wagyu beef towards the end was absolutely phenomenal. The atmosphere is clean and sharp but also warm and inviting and not too overly stiff or formal, which I really enjoy. While the price point isn't necessarily an everyday casual dinner out, it's very fair and comparable to similar experiences in other major cities. I'll look forward to making a return visit!

What a great experience. I've always wanted to try an Omakase style meal and they of course did it justice! Ours was 18 courses and opened my horizons to new foods I haven't otherwise experienced with my lackluster food history. This includes eel, trout row, general caviar, horse mackerel, seabream, barracuda, and other types of fishes. I loved almost every dish. The atmosphere was wonderful with the modern Japanese music that was just the right volume to talk but to not be too awkward in moments of silent where you watch the chefs in awe. And the service was impeccable, constantly checking on you, filling your glass every 2 sips, folding your napkin when you step to the restroom. Everything was wonderful!
