Bonterra Cafe, Coffee and Wine Bar
Neighborhood: SouthPark
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
After closing the original location in Dilworth back in December, the Bonterra team quickly got to work on their new cafe, coffee and wine bar concept in SouthPark. Guests can enjoy lunch, dinner and weekend brunch while enjoying their impressive wine list or coffee by La Colombe. You can even build your own spreads, cheese and charcuterie board all day, every day.
Dave’s Hot Chicken
Neighborhood: Plaza Midwood
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
If you can take the heat, head on over to this L.A.-based hot chicken concept, now open in Plaza Midwood. The menu is simple: choose tenders or sliders (or a combo of the two) and choose your spice level, ranging from “no spice” to “reaper.” Fries, pickles and Dave’s sauce are included with each combo. Feel free to order online for easy pickup.
Gibson Mill Market
Area: Concord, NC
Hours: Market hours are Monday-Tuesday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; Wednesday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-9 pm.; Sunday, noon-8 p.m. Hours vary by tenant.
This redevelopment of Gibson Manufacturing Company now houses several food and fun tenants. This month, seven of them opened their doors:

- Johnny Rogers BBQ & Burgers
- Luck Factory Games
- Taco Street
Several more food stalls, including Kuni’s Kitchen, Barcos Raw Bar and a second Livy’s Neapolitan Pizza, will open at a later date.
Godfather’s Pizza
Neighborhood: University City
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
If you grew up in Charlotte, you may remember this pizza joint and its many locations scattered throughout the Charlotte area. Now, the Nebraska-based company is back in the Queen City with favorites like the Taco Pie, Bacon Cheeseburger and Buffalo Chicken pizzas. The pizzeria is currently open for carryout and delivery only.
Mac’s Speed Shop
Area: Concord, NC
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-midnight.
Now you can shop ‘til you drop at Concord Mills Mall and feast on pulled pork, brisket and mac and cheese afterward because the newest Mac’s Speed Shop is open in Concord. This particular location features several spaces for live music, including a spacious patio and an indoor stage. Keep an eye on their events calendar to see what’s happening next.
milkbread
Neighborhood: Plaza Midwood

Can’t make it to Davidson for your donut fix? Luckily, the second milkbread location is now open in Plaza Midwood in the old Dairy Queen building. On the menu, you’ll find toast, biscuits, bowls, salads, crispy chicken and plenty of donuts and “cinny rolls.” Wanna skip the line? Order online!
Que Fresa
Neighborhood: Wesley Heights
Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Closed Monday.
Picante may have closed, but a fun taqueria concept by the owners of Que Onda has taken its place. The large menu features a variety of tacos, bowls, burritos and tortas plus plenty of tequila and margarita options. Don’t miss their lunch and daily specials for several steals (including 2 tacos for $7 on Tuesdays and $1 wings on Wednesdays).
Tacos el Flacko
Neighborhood: Citywide
Hours: Thursday, 5 p.m.-12:30 a.m.; Friday, 5 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday, 6 p.m.-3 a.m.; Sunday 4 p.m.-3 a.m. (game day) or 6 p.m.-12:30 a.m. (non-game day).
Get your late-night taco fix at this new food truck in Uptown, specifically 100-198 N. Tryon Street. Nason González and his siblings were inspired to open the business thanks to their father, who opened Taqueria Los Tres Potrillos back in 2003. Tacos are $3.50 each with your choice of carne asada, pollo asado, al pastor, carnitas or chorizo.
The Garrison
Area: Pineville, NC
Hours: Tuesday-Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; Thursday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (starting Nov. 6th); Closed Monday.
A 100-year-old building in Pineville is now home to a two-story restaurant and cocktail bar from the owners of Margaux’s. Signature dishes include St. Louis-style toasted ravioli, burgers and braised lamb shank, and the cocktail menu features a variety of hand-crafted drinks. Stay tuned for their Sunday brunch menu launching November 6th.
The Good Wurst Co.
Neighborhood: South End
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (Breakfast is served until 11 a..m daily.)
This New York-style deli’s second location is now open in South End in the Vantage building. On the menu, you’ll find plenty of bratwursts and sausages plus Montreal-style bagels, loaded fries and meaty sandwiches. Come hungry and leave very full and very happy.
The Horseshoe
Neighborhood: South End
Hours: Thursday, 5 p.m.-midnight; Friday, 5 p.m.-2 a.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m.-2 a.m.; Sunday, noon-midnight; Closed Monday-Wednesday. Hours subject to change after grand opening.
Gamecock fans, rejoice! There’s a new game day hang-out spot, appropriately named after the Horseshoe on the University of South Carolina’s campus. The menu features bar food like burgers, sandwiches and nachos, and the full bar will offer craft cocktails. All sports fans are welcome, but on Saturdays, be prepared for a big garnet-and-black-wearing crowd.
