Eat & Drink
Antagonist
Neighborhood: South End
Need a foolproof way to unplug? Head to Antagonist, where the team takes your phone at the door (and keeps it tucked away safely) so you can enjoy a few hours of screen-free time. The menu features seasonal and classic cocktails plus a comforting snack section.
Crispy Cones
Area: Southwest Charlotte
As seen on “Shark Tank,” this dessert concept is known for freshly made “dough cones” that are “grilled rotisserie-style and covered with cinnamon and sugar,” then filled with your choice of ice cream and toppings. Try a signature build from the menu or get creative and build your own.
Fenian’s Keep
Neighborhood: NoDa
Sip on a Guinness or beverage of choice at this new Irish pub, from the same owners as Brigid’s in South End. Make plans to eat before or after, though; this is a true watering hole with no food menu.
Harriet’s Hamburgers
Neighborhood: Plaza Midwood
Popular burger joint Harriet’s Hamburgers has opened a fourth location on the ground level of the Plaza Midwood’s newest development, the Commonwealth. You’ll find the simple but delicious burgers plus cheese curds, signature sauces and the recently revamped beef tallow fries. Grab it to-go or enjoy the green and yellow dining room or patio.
Ricci’s Hoagies
Neighborhood: NoDa
A classic hoagie shop from Philly with more than 100 years of business now has a spot in Charlotte. The local franchisee fell in love with the concept and aims to serve the same quality sandwiches that you’d find at the original. The Italian is a crowd favorite, but feel free to build your own with a variety of meats, cheeses and toppings.
Uchi
Neighborhood: Plaza Midwood
This highly anticipated Japanese-inspired restaurant is open at the Commonwealth, serving nigiri and sashimi, hot and cold dishes, craft cocktails and tasty desserts. Order as you like or choose a “chef’s tasting” option and let the team take you through the menu with their own selections. Stay tuned for the rooftop bar, Uchibā, to open next month.
Uncle’s
Neighborhood: Plaza Midwood
Chef Michael Le’s popular pop-up, Hello, Uncle, led to the opening of Uncle’s, a home base for the concept located at Burial Brewing. The menu leans mostly into Thai cuisine with dishes like charred cabbage, khao man gai and khor moo yang. You’ll still find the pop-up concept around town.
Things to Do
Glitch
Area: Camp North End
This tattoo studio from award-winning artist Luke Kelly now has a new home at Camp North End. The new studio features a game lounge with plenty of space to relax with friends, even if you aren’t getting inked. Be sure to book an appointment if you’re planning to get a tattoo.
