From top-flight restaurants, exciting nightlife and thrilling adventure spots to the best bourbon bars and high-end hotels, make Charlotte the host of your unforgettable weekend.
For the Sports Fans
Charlotte is one of the strongest cities in the southeast for all kinds of sports, from the NFL and Major League Soccer to regional teams like the Charlotte Knights and Charlotte Checkers. Make a stop at one of these home fields or courts to anchor a night on the town.
Since their 2022 inception, Charlotte FC gained a faithful following throughout the city. Games are always full of excitement and energy, and tickets are usually available for as little as $30. Join the crowd, grab a home team kit, and get ready to cheer on the home team!
Consistently ranked as one of the top home fields in all of minor league baseball, seeing a baseball game at Uptown’s Truist Field is a must during the summer. Tickets can be had for as little as $10, meaning a group outing is easy to put together. Bring your glove, because you’re never too old to catch a home run ball in the outfield.
One of the most exciting sports to watch in person is ice hockey and Charlotte’s AHL team is no exception. Playing in the historic Bojangles Coliseum, a Checkers game always provides lots of entertainment, and the chuck-a-puck promotion is always a fun way to make a charitable donation. Grab some seats near the glass and get ready to light the lamp.
For the Craft Brew Buds
The past 15 years has seen Charlotte grow into a craft beer destination. Not only do these breweries serve some of the most creative and high quality beers anywhere in the country but their massive venues make perfect locations for events, food and entertainment. Make one of these breweries the first stop on your itinerary.
Neighborhood: North End
Just north of Uptown is Heist Barrel Arts, a spacious and inviting venue to launch your bachelor party into the stratosphere. Heist has a large outdoor patio space that will offer plenty of room for you and your friends to spread out, as well as enjoy some live music that is often playing. Once you’re done, you’re within walking distance of one of the other entries on this list, the multi-purpose Camp North End.
Charlotte's oldest brewery is also one of its biggest, and their flagship location in LoSo is a signature attraction in Charlotte. Between the indoor space, multiple private rooms, and expansive outdoor Biergarten, Olde Meck occupies over 52,000 square feet, making this the perfect location for a guy’s night out. Rent one of the two Festhalle private rooms to get the full experience.
Breweries in Charlotte are often known for their excellent and diverse beer selection, but how many have a top flight selection of rare whiskeys? That’s what sets this LoSo brewery apart from its contemporaries. With more than 50 different varieties of allocated bourbons and whiskies ranging from the common to the one-of-a-kind, Protagonist in LoSo is the rare brewery that caters to those well-versed in fine spirits. Book the upstairs bourbon bar and have your own private bartender serving your favorite concoction to you and your friends before the big day.
Neighborhood: South End
When Sycamore Brewing first opened its doors in 2014, it was an instant hit in the quickly-growing brewery scene. The brewery grew so fast that it outgrew its original home and has built an entirely new flagship location nestled neatly along the rail trail in popular South End. With lots of seating, proximity to the light rail, and fun outdoor vibes, Sycamore is one of our top picks for pre-game beverages for your big night on the town.
Located just steps away from the light rail stop in the heart of one of Charlotte’s hippest neighborhoods, The Chamber by Wooden Robot is an easy choice for beers that will set the tone for a big party. Between multiple levels, lots of outdoor seating, and a large indoor space, Wooden Robot is an excellent choice for a small group of friends, all the way up to a private rental to share with your closest mates.
For the Lovers of Fine Bourbon
One of the South’s favorite adult beverages is bourbon. Here in Charlotte, you’ve got some great options for your night out with the fellas. Whether your favorite is Blanton’s, Whistle Pig or a simple Jack Daniel’s, you can find a strong glass of bourbon or whiskey served neat or in an artisanal cocktail at these neighborhood bars.
Unique on this list because it’s just as much an upscale dinner destination as it is a whiskey bar, The Crunkleton doesn’t dilute its attention on either. Top shelf bourbon and whiskey flows all night long and pairs perfectly with a lamb stroganoff or 42-ounce tomahawk steak, making this a drinks and dinner destination. If you’re looking for a place to fuel up the morning after your party, The Crunkleton’s brunch menu is also top notch
If you dig the classy and secretive vibes of a speakeasy, Dot Dot Dot is for you. Inconspicuously located in Park Road Shopping Center (and near some excellent dining options like Flour Shop, Midwood Smokehouse and Amelie’s), Dot Dot Dot is famed Charlotte mixologist Stefan Hubner’s vision come to life. Make sure you dress the part and book a reservation on their website, particularly on busy nights – this is an exclusive and upscale lounge that you generally can’t just walk into.
One of Charlotte’s best distilleries is also conveniently located in one of the best neighborhoods to plan a night out with the fellas. A quick walk from NoDa’s light rail stop is Great Wagon Road, purveyors of their own brand of bourbon, whiskey, single malt whiskey, vodka and gin. Grab a bottle as a gift for your best man and sip on some of the spirits before heading out for a night in NoDa that you won’t forget.
Neighborhood: Optimist Park
Recently opened in March 2023, Humbug is a craft cocktail lover’s dream. Owners Larry Suggs and Andrew Schools are veterans of Charlotte’s bar scene and their motto of “Always delicious, never pretentious” permeates throughout their establishment. With a den-like atmosphere and creative cocktails, Humbug is a must when exploring the NoDa/Plaza Midwood area.
For the Cigar Aficionados
Relaxing with a smooth cigar in hand is one of the best ways to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime event. Fortunately, there are several cigar bars and lounges in Charlotte that will allow you to toast to the groom and his best men.
Located in the heart of Uptown at Queen City Quarter (formerly known as the Epicentre), Tailored Smoke is one of Charlotte’s best cigar bars. With a large open air lounge area, you and your friends will have plenty of space to spread out and enjoy a quality Macanudo.
Neighborhood: South End
If you’re looking for a space that has cigars, whiskey and dinner, look no further than The Vintage Whiskey & Cigar Bar in trendy South End. Also an ideal place for a private event, The Vintage will make you feel like a true VIP while you enjoy a fine smoke with your best men.
Located just a few steps from Spectrum Center in Uptown, make a reservation at Havana Smoke & Reserve Social Club for a top-notch cigar experience before or after a Hornets game or big-name concert. Sitting on the fourth floor of the freshly renovated Bianco Tower, this refined lounge will create the perfect atmosphere for your celebration.
For the Foodie Friends
No self-respecting bachelor party is complete without a quality dining experience. For a celebration of this magnitude, fast casual and pup fare just won’t do. Make an advance reservation for some of these top tier restaurants.
Charlotte’s signature homegrown steakhouse has been in operation on South Boulevard since 1958. Never one to chase trends, Beef & Bottle interior is a throwback to the era from which it came: pictures of Audrey Hepburn, Elvis and Humphrey Bogart adorn the dimly lit walls, creating an old school atmosphere that can only be found at this cult favorite. The steak is some of the best in town, making Beef & Bottle a top choice for your celebratory dinner.
Over the past several years, Charlotte’s arts & entertainment district has become a destination for high quality dining. Leading that charge is Chef Chris Coleman’s Goodyear House, located in a renovated mill house prominently on North Davidson. Perhaps one of the best flowing spaces in town, just sitting at a table in the outdoor patio is an experience. For an atmosphere that can’t be beat, plus easy access to NoDa’s fantastic nightlife, Goodyear House is the place to go.
Neighborhood: North End
This Camp North End staple has made a name for itself thanks to James Beard-nominated chef, Greg Collier. Together he and his wife, Subrina, have created an atmosphere of a “modern juke joint” serving upscale Southern favorites to a dining room of eager guests. You’ll need reservations for this in-demand hotspot.
Quality barbeque is a North Carolina delicacy, and Midwood Smokehouse is one of Charlotte’s premiere locations for smoked meats. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken wings are all high quality, as well as Midwood’s signature burnt ends. A meal fit for former U.S. presidents, Midwood Smokehouse has locations in some of Charlotte’s most popular neighborhoods near many of the other destinations on this list, meaning you can fit a great meal into your night no matter what part of town you’re in.
Neighborhood: Wesley Heights
The newest restaurant on this list lives up to its lofty billing, and it's due partly to the amazing story of its head chef and owner. Chef Sam Diminich made a full recovery from a period of substance abuse to become the personal chef for former Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey and eventually opening his own brick and mortar restaurant, featuring wine, craft beer and a spirit-free cocktail. The menu, which shifts with the seasons and market availability, is always inspired and robust. With limited tables, Restaurant Constance is best suited for smaller parties.
For the Golfers of the Group
North Carolina is a sports enthusiast’s dream, and that includes some of the best golf courses and amenities in the country. From a PGA Championship level course fit for the world’s best pro golfers to local courses and a classy take on putt-putt, Charlotte is full of options for you and your golf buddies.
Truly an ideal attraction for a guys night out, Topgolf has exploded in popularity over the last decade and now occupies two locations in Charlotte. Perhaps its biggest draw is that you don’t need to be a scratch golfer to enjoy a night out – anyone of any skill level can step up to one of the 100-plus bays, grab a club and start swinging. With a full service bar and restaurant, Topgolf is a one-stop shop for an unforgettable night with your best men.
A less-flashy golf-lover's dream, Leatherman’s is a Charlotte tradition. Once partially owned by Michael Jordan, Leatherman’s is a fantastic place to start your day before dinner, drinks and cigars. Leatherman’s centralized locations allows you closer access to other options on this list, including dinner at Beef & Bottle and the LoSo brewery corridor.
Neighborhood: Highland Creek
If Quail Hollow isn’t an option, we recommend Highland Creek Golf Club, just north of I-485. With greens fees starting at around $30, Highland Creek is an excellent course with affordable rates.
Neighborhood: South End
No need to carry a golf bag, special shoes and all the gear across town for your golf fix. Stay near Uptown and the vibrant South End social scene at Puttery Charlotte. This miniature golf oasis partially backed by Rory McIlroy reimagines the carnival-style putt-putt course into a sleek and modern indoor experience complete with craft cocktails and a full dining menu. Private parties are especially well-suited for Puttery, making this a top destination for festivities.
For those Seeking Fun
There’s no shortage of fun and exciting activities in and around the Queen City to keep you and your mates entertained before a big night’s celebration. Spend a few hours at some of these unique destination activities to set the tone for an unforgettable weekend.
Is there anything more manly than taking a sharp weighted object, lifting it over your head and throwing it dead center into a bullseye ten feet away? Probably, but few of those things are as cathartic. While there are several options for ax throwing in Charlotte, BATL is our choice because of its proximity to other locations on this list. An ideal choice for private parties like the one you’re planning, BATL also hosts year-round leagues for those who can’t get enough.
Neighborhood: Myers Park
Charlotte’s most iconic public park is one you can’t miss, especially if you’re looking for some downtime with your friends before a big night out. Take a lap around the pond, or bring your soccer, volleyball or basketball gear for a few hours of game time in the fields near the East Boulevard entrance.
In the immortal words of Mugatu, “Pickleball. So hot right now.” Okay, it may have been something else he was referring to, but the sentiment still applies to one of the fastest-growing sports in America: Pickleball. Charlotte has its fair share of courts and Rally Pickleball aims to bring an experience like no other to the Queen City. Located near The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Rally provides a classy and thoughtful pickleball experience complete with craft cocktails and a menu that has delicious items like acai bowls and wood-fired pizza.
For the Thrill Seekers
It’s not everyday that you or your best friend gets married and you should celebrate with an activity that is equally as special. Charlotte is home to several one-of-a-kind attractions that will get your heart racing like the stock car you might be riding in.

The hotel with the most historical richness and unique Charlotte charm on this list is The Dunhill Hotel in Uptown. Originally opened as the Mayfair Manor in 1929, this hotel has survived almost a century’s worth of changes to emerge in 2023 as a relic.
